Services

Zero Draft Insulation & Energy Solutions provides infrared inspection services, installs blown-in cellulose insulation, and provides air barrier sealing for homeowners. Our goal is to substantially reduce excessive air movement in your home's building envelope.

Why all the fuss about moving air? Extensive research by both the U.S. Department of Energy and Canadian energy experts has shown that air leakage represents the single largest source of heat loss or gain in all types of buildings. What does this mean for you, the homeowner?

If your home has excessive air leakage you're spending too much money on heating and cooling your home!
Why do we use infrared cameras? We use infrared cameras because we can show you exactly where you need to reduce your home's air leakage. Temperature differences can be monitored within one tenth of a degree. We can detect heat leaving your home in the winter and heat entering your home in the summer.
Take look at the pictures below and see for yourself. (Click on image to enlarge photo.)

Building managers

Are you getting complaints from your tenants about drafts, odors, pests and noise transfer?

Did you know that most of these complaints are caused by air leakage?

Zero Draft Insulation & Energy Solutions controls air leakage by sealing cracks, holes, and gaps with the proper materials. Stopping the unwanted flow of air prevents noise, bad odors such as cigarette smoke and cooking odors, flies and other pests from getting into the building or moving from one unit to another.

Air leakage has been shown to be the single largest source of heat loss or gain in the envelopes of nearly all types of buildings. Control it and you keep the heated or air-conditioned air inside the building and save money on heating and cooling costs!

Some common types of air leakage control include:

Re-weatherstripping doors and windows.
Sealing elevator cable and plumbing service shafts.
Isolating underground parking garages and mechanical rooms.
Eliminating air leaks behind baseboards, baseboard heaters, and at construction joints such as roof-to-wall.
Call Zero Draft Insulation & Energy Solutions today to find out how we can help you save money and reduce complaints! 1-207-899-4688

Insulation

Why Insulate?

Many older homes have inadequate attic insulation. Zero Draft Insulation & Energy Solutions recommends today's code, R-38, for attic insulation. Anything less than that means wasted money going right through your roof.

Heating and cooling account for 50% to 70% of the energy used in the average American home. About 20% goes for heating water. On the other hand, lighting and appliances and everything else account for only 10% to 30% of the energy used in most homes.

Insulating your home will typically save enough money in reduced utility bills to pay for itself in a short period of time, continue to save you money for as long as you own the home, and increase the resale value of your home!

Get the benefits of controlling air leakage too!

Buildings with gaps, cracks, and "holes" in them that suffer from uncontrolled air flow (air leakage) cost more money to heat and air condition, are drafty and uncomfortable, have poorer air quality indoor air, deteriorate faster, and generate more occupant complaints than buildings where air leakage is properly controlled.

Zero Draft Insulation & Energy Solutions controls air leakage by sealing gaps, cracks and holes with innovative materials and systems applications. This stops the unwanted flow of air and prevents everything from noise, bad smells such as second-hand smoke and cooking odors, and flies and other insects getting into the building or moving from one part of it to another.

Air leakage has also been shown to represent the single largest source of heat loss or gain through the envelopes of nearly all types of buildings. Control it and you keep heated or air-conditioned air inside the building and save money.

Call us now to schedule a scan and find out how you can upgrade the thermal performance of your home and save money on heating costs!

Application

Different Types of Insulation

The key to any insulation material performance is its bonding or adhesion to the surface onto which it is being applied. Depending on what your building insulation needs are, different applications will be used alone or in combination to provide your building with the best thermal performance available.

Loose or blown-in insulation is installed so that it forms a blanket in attic and ceiling applications.
Wall insulation is blown in at a density that will not allow it to settle or create voids at the tops of walls.
Sprayed-on products bond and seal foundations. Weatherstripping and foam sealants are used to create tight seals around doors and windows.
